Spring 2024: RSM Robotics Team
---Kilobots ("Battlebots") League (Our 2nd Year)
Year 01: Spring 2023
---This was the first year that we attempted to form a local RCS "battlebots" league. Our school's team designed and 3D-printed a functional "battlebot." Only three schools managed to accomplish this (SCM, BMS, and us).  As the junior team out of these three, the other two schools gave us an honorary award of 1st place. 
 
Sponsor/Coach: Mr. Elliott/STEM Teacher
Assistant Coach: Mr. Morris/8th Grade Science Teacher

We am sponsoring a small team to compete in the local RCS Kilobots ("Battlebots") League.  

Goal: A small groups of students will design and build a 3D-Printed robot frame and shell.  

 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Fall 2023: RSM Robotics Team
---Best Robotics (Our 4th Year!)
Year 01: 2020-2021
---participated but did not compete (7th team to register out of 6 teams allowed)
Year 02: 2021-2022
---competed, 10th place out of 11 teams, honored as best rookie team
Year 03: 2022-2023
---competed, 8th place out of 9 teams, won a wild-card round and therefore also competed in a championship round
Year 04: Current School Year
---competed, 8th place out of 10 teams (earned 340 points in nine 3-min rounds (8 seeding rounds and 1 wild-card round)

Parent Meeting(s):

---The first parent meeting will occur on THR Aug 17th from 5 to 6PM in room 502B. 

(If you want to try-out for the team, please ask one of your parents to attend this meeting.)

I am sponsoring a small team to compete in the regional Best Robotics event.  

Goal: A small team of students will design, build, and test a robot to accomplish a series of challenging tasks as part of the Best Robotics competition.

Weekly Meetings:

Saturdays-9 AM to 3PM at RSM in room 502B (6-hour sessions) 

Note: All Best Robotics events are on Saturdays.

 

Extra Meetings: Sometimes we will need to meet on school nights for 2 to 3 hours or during Fall Break.

 

2023 Season Duration: Sept 9th  to Nov 4th (about 8 weeks) 

Kick-off Day: SAT Sept 9th, 2023 at Lipscomb University in the Willard Collins Alumni Arena (9AM to 12PM)

Game Day: SAT Nov 4th, 2023  at Lipscomb University in the Allen Arena (9AM to 6PM)

 

Team Fee:

---The fee for each team member is $30. This money will help purchase team T-shirts, food/snacks, and supplies for competition events (as needed).
