I am a graduate of Western Kentucky University.  I have my Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education grades K-12 and Elementary Education grades 1-8.  I received my Master's degree in the area of Learning and Behavior Disorders.  I have 33 years experience teaching core subject areas at elementary, middle and high school levels in Kentucky and Tennessee.  I have been at Rock Springs Middle School for 17 years.  I am a 6th grade Math Inclusion Teacher this school year. I will also have office hours to work with special needs distance learners. I encourage parents to make sure the students have the zoom platform on their devices for teacher support.  I am attaching directions for setting up zoom meetings.  Teams meetings may also be utilized.

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope that you all are well and being safe by practicing social distancing.  I am so excited to see our in school learners back at school and our distance learners on the virtual platform!  All students are able to access their schedule on Skyward.  School supply lists are on the RSMS web page.   All distance learners need to login to the Kiddom platform to find lessons being assigned daily or weekly.  It is very important for distance learners to check in every day for attendance purposes and to try their best to complete the assignments. I will have virtual office hours for our distance learners through zoom. Those hours are posted on this website.  Students will be able to check into the office hour times to receive assistance with assignments or answering of school related questions.

I encourage students to subscribe to their teachers web pages so that they will receive notifications when there are updates added.   If an assignment is too challenging and needs to be modified for our distance learner, please contact the core teacher or email me.   Also as students complete work, some assignments will be turned into their teachers for grades or feedback.   There will be grades attached to the learning activities that students are completing at home.  So be sure to complete your assignments and if you need help join my zoom meetings.

I am available Monday-Friday by email from 8 AM to 3 PM for any questions.  Feel free to email me at [email protected] .I will get back to you before the end of the day.

As far as Individualized Educational Programming Meetings, we are being encouraged to have virtual meetings.  Due to Covid-19 we will be completing contingency learning plans with our parents for each student that will be added to their current IEP until all meetings are conducted.  You will be receiving a letter about this process and further information in the next few days either sent home by your student or mailed.  If you have questions email me. I greatly appreciate your understanding and support as we work through these plans.

I am also encouraging my students and parents to have the remind app on their phones or email so that they can receive messages, reminders, permission slips, and other files or resources.   This will be a way for me to communicate with you and for you to receive faster notifications and resources that may be needed.  To receive the class code quickly for the remind app you can  email me with your name and student's name and I will email you the code and you will have immediate access.  I will be handing out the remind information to in-school learners tomorrow and I plan on emailing or mailing the information out to distance learners by August 17th.

Parents are invited and encouraged to follow twitter@RSMSKNIGHTS for current news and information.
