CW: * Read page 59 and 60 and discussed,
* We discussed how Alfred of Wessex United the Angelo-Saxons in England to halt the Viking invasions ( advancements)
* how William the Conqueror, now King of England - ruled by Feudalism
* put down the English Nobles rebellion by attacking the revolting Lords Manors and then giving those manors to his Norman Knights (loyalty pays)
* How French was now the language used in the King's court
* How Normans and English ultimately merged cultures even the French & English languages to form the English language we speak today
*William counted/ took a census of every person, farm animal and piece of land and wrote it down in his book called "Domesday" in order to help determine taxes and to know what he ruled
* How William of Normandy (from Normandy France) / William the Conqueror - became King of England and his impact on the lineage of the English Monarchy
