We are in the process of gathering information about Read Across America Day on March 2nd. This is also Dr. Suess's birthday. More information about how we will participate in this event is coming soon!
Meeting InformationThe book club will meet once a month on a Thursday from 3:15-4:15 p.m. in the school library. Each month, we will have a themed book discussion during club time on books chosen by students in the club. This year, we will be reading books that were nominated for the Tennessee Volunteer Book Award.

- Oct. 2nd - Enigma Girls by Candace Fleming
- Nov. 6th - Not Quite a Ghost by Anne Ursu
- Dec. 4th - Bye, Forever, I Guess by Jodi Meadows
- Jan. 15th - Book Swap and Party
- Feb. 5th - The Tenth Mistake of Hank Hooperman by Gennifer Choldenko
- Mar. 5th - March Madness / A Game of Noctis by Deva Fagan
- Apr. 9th - The Night War by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley
- May 7th - End-of-Year Party (Fun Book-Themed Event)
Students must have a signed permission form turned in to participate (attached below). Permission slips can be found in the library, on the door of Room 201, or attached at the very bottom of this page and need to be returned to Mrs. Sprinkle (library) or Mrs. DuFault (Room 201). Enrollment is open through September 15th.

Book Club Dues / Fees
Book Club Dues: There are no fees this year thanks to the sponsorship of Read to Succeed!
*Field trips may require an extra charge that can be paid in the SchoolCash app or by cash/check.

March 2nd - Read Across America
In addition to having book discussions, we also plan to complete book-related activities* throughout the year. Possibilities include:
- Fundraiser
- Read Across America Event: reading to elementary children
- Movie Night (based on a book)
- Book Tasting
- End-of-year Party
- Dress as your favorite book character (October 31)
- Writing / Illustrating a Children's Book
- Battle of the books (dependent on funding) or Quizbowl
- Book Games (kahoot, blookit, book-title Pictionary, etc)
- Book Personality Quizzes
- Table Read
- Smyrna Library Field Trip (maybe)
